Tennessee Pro-Life Bill Would Make Mail-Order Abortion Pills Illegal
HB0005 by Representative Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood), recognizes that it is both a state and federal crime to distribute or prescribe abortion pills in Tennessee. These illegal drugs continue to flow into our state:
- Killing unborn children
- Sidestepping parental involvement in a life-or-death situation
- Providing cover for sexual predators, and
- Causing serious and sometimes life-threatening physical and emotional harm to women and girls.
HB0005 increases the civil liability of abortion distributers and prescribers who push abortion pills into Tennessee illegally. This legislation would allow mothers as well as other family members to sue for the wrongful death of the unborn child and increase the possible amount to recover at trial.
This important legislation will give teeth to existing laws and deter suppliers from illegally peddling abortion pills in Tennessee.
Tennessee Right to Life SUPPORTS this legislation.
HB0005 is scheduled to be heard in the House Health Committee on Tuesday, March 3, starting at 1:30 pm CST. Please contact the members and ask them to vote YES on HB0005.
