Helicopter rescues two paddleboarders swept out to sea off Larnaca
Two paddleboarders were rescued off the coast of Pervolia on Friday after being swept out to sea, prompting activation of the national emergency response plan Nearchos.
The joint rescue and coordination centre (JRCC) confirmed the operation began at 10.15am, when the two individuals were reported in danger.
A helicopter from the 460th naval rescue squadron and a coast guard ambulance were immediately mobilised.
Authorities said the helicopter winched both individuals from the water around 11am.
They were transported to the shore and handed over to an ambulance for precautionary medical checks.
Both were found to be in good health and released.
