SuperPretzel Launches Protein-Packed Soft Pretzels—But Do They Taste Like the Real Thing?
There's certainly no shortage of protein-rich snacks these days. One survey from the International Food Information Council found seven in 10 Americans are actively trying to include more protein in their diets, and food companies are doing their best to meet consumer demand in the snack aisles. Now, SuperPretzel is officially entering the protein snack market, rolling out frozen protein soft pretzels.
Starting March 1, their first-ever plant-based protein soft pretzels will hit shelves nationwide at major retailers including Target, Walmart, Publix, Safeway, and more. The launch includes two options: regular, hand-twisted Bavarian-style soft pretzels and bite-sized minis. And don't worry, each bag comes with that wonderful pretzel salt.

You’re likely familiar with SuperPretzel, as the brand has been around for more than 50 years and is best known for its classic frozen soft pretzels. A personal childhood staple of mine. Honestly, the macros on those aren’t bad to begin with, but the new protein version feels tailor-made for lifters, athletes, and anyone paying attention to their daily intake.
I had the chance to run my own taste test before they hit grocery stores, and I’m a fan! I love soft pretzels, but I’m more picky when it comes to protein snacks. These aren't quite as fluffy as the OG version, but the flavor and texture are definitely there. Like most protein-fied foods, you can tell it’s not the classic. But for a quick mid-day snack or after-dinner savory treat when low on protein, these are perfect.
