Why We Love This Deal

Last summer, I sat down at my computer to take care of a simple task: Order a set of string lights as front porch decor. But getting what I wanted wasn’t so simple. Searching for string lights online brings a deluge of kinda-similar listings with confusing titles and incomplete specs, which makes it really hard to compare products and choose the best one.

Luckily, I found a set I’ve been happy with, but it took a lot of time. If you’re in the market for some outdoor lighting, I can save you some hassle: Snag this $33 set of plug-in string lights on sale at Walmart today. At 100 feet long with 50 LED lights encased in durable shatterproof plastic, it’s an ideal “just get this” solution for lighting up a large porch or patio—no hours of research required.

The set is Daybetter's 100-foot Outdoor String Lights, and they're 45% off their normal price of $60. These lights are a Walmart “Overall Pick” and have earned over 1,200 five-star reviews from the retailer's online shoppers—a smart choice for lighting your porch, patio, or yard. They’re also a great deal for a 100-foot strand of plug-in lights. Similar bestselling sets are retailing for $60 on Amazon, and they’re significantly cheaper than the set I bought. You might find lower-priced 100-foot options, but pay attention to the fine print. This other model, for example, stretches 100 feet but only has 37 lights!

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Power Source: Wall outlet
  • Length: 100 feet
  • Bulbs: 50
  • Bulb Spacing: 2 feet
  • Bulb Type: LED

OK, let’s get into the specs on these lights. This is a 100-foot strand, which is quite long. For reference, I used a 50-foot strand, and it covered the front and sides of my entire front porch. While you’ll need to measure your space to determine exactly how much length you need, this 100-foot strand could likely cover the full perimeter of a good-sized room or patio.

The set's 50 bulbs are spaced 2 feet apart, which provides good light coverage without big gaps between the lights (my set has the same spacing, and it looks great). The LED bulbs emit a bright yet warm glow—no harsh lighting here—and they’re covered with plastic “glass” that’s super durable, so they won’t shatter. The LED lighting also uses way less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and the strand plugs into a wall outlet for reliable power (no batteries or solar panels to mess with). The set comes with an additional spare bulb and utilizes standard E12 sockets, so you can actually swap out these bulbs for other options if you like. Each bulb socket has a hook for easy hanging, and the whole set is designed to withstand the elements for outdoor use.

If there's one thing I've learned from having to install a set like this, it's that grabbing a set of screw-in hooks for hanging them on fence posts or wooden beams around your porch or patio makes things a lot easier. You can screw these in by hand, and they provide a secure mounting point for your lights.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Shoppers have left tons of positive feedback on these lights. Overall, they’ve been impressed with the lights’ sturdy construction, calling them “very well made” and noting they’ve held up through rain and outdoor use without issues.

Most of all, though, shoppers love the “nice, elegant glow” the lights provide. One said the lights “added so much ambiance,” and another said they “bring warmth, coziness, and personality to our patio.” That’s not hyperbole—I’ve noticed similar results on my porch. With the lights on, the warm glow makes the porch (and the rest of my house) look really inviting. It’s a huge upgrade, and it doesn’t cost much or require a ton of work.

This Walmart clearance deal on the Daybetter string lights won’t last forever, and at nearly half off, I’m betting these lights sell out fast. Grab your set today, and you’ll have an instant upgrade for your outdoor space come springtime.
