Top 10 Video Games Releasing in March 2026
While my mind says I just ushered in a new year, the calendar tells another story, one where it’s about to be March. That means two things: I’ll spend too much time filling out a bracket with teams I know nothing about and playing more games. It was looking like March Madness of the gaming variety with five of my 26 most-anticipated titles set to launch, but REPLACED and Mouse: P.I. For Hire were both delayed until April. Still, that doesn’t mean March isn’t loaded.
Before we dive into the list, there are a couple of updates to existing games worth mentioning. First, Sony’s Ghost of Yotei is getting a free online co-op mode, Legends, on March 10. Also, the highly enjoyable Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set to add DLC and get an upgrade to the latest hardware on March 26 in the form of Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park Upgrade Pack (it just rolls off the tongue).
With that business concluded, here’s my top 10 video games that are coming out in March:
10) Life is Strange: Reunion / Pokémon Pokopia (tie)
You know it’s a big month when I share the last spot between two games and still can’t find room for Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered (or Legacy of Kain: Ascendance for that matter). Such is life, however, and life is strange. Masterclass segues aside, Life is Strange: Reunion brings original protagonists Max and Chloe back together for the series’ fifth installment. Suffice it to say, your actions will have consequences. Also, Pokémon Pokopia looks like a mash-up of Minecraft and Animal Crossing starring everyone’s favorite pocket monsters. Sounds cozy.
9) Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake
With Resident Evil Requiem in the books, a different kind of survival horror looms. In this one, you’ll use a camera instead of a gun. The game was originally a PlayStation 2 release all the way back in 2003 with more critical success than commercial success. The remake looks great, so we’ll see if it finds a larger audience this time around.
8) MLB The Show 26
Good news for baseball fans, spring training has started, and that means the release of Sony’s annual MLB The Show. Hopefully, the expected upcoming labor strife won’t work its way into The Show. We want realism, but not that level of realism.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on Steam (Capcom)
7) Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
For the unfamiliar, Monster Hunter Stories is a sub-series of Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, eschewing the action-heavy gameplay for a turn-based RPG approach. This is the third game under the Stories banner and the first since 2021, and its story revolves around the birth of twin Rathalos, dragon-like monsters believed to have been extinct.
6) Scott Pilgrim EX
If you like old-school, side-scrolling beat ‘em ups, the pending arrival of Scott Pilgrim EX should have you all manner of excited, considering how good Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was. As an aficionado of such endeavors, I am primed for more face-punching hijinks.
5) John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando
With films like The Thing, Halloween, and Big Trouble in Little China to his credit, John Carpenter is among the most well-known names in Hollywood. His unique blend of horror and comedy became his signature over the years, so expect to see that, and a whole lot of undead blood, in the upcoming four-person co-op shooter. Trailers have made it look like chaotic fun. We’ll see if it can deliver.
4) WWE 2K26
The second annual release on my list, WWE 2K26 features CM Punk in this year’s “Showcase Mode” along with a few new match types and other improvements. One of the best decisions any publisher has made this decade was when 2K decided to bypass its 2021 installment and completely revamp the series. It’s been great every year since, and I don’t see any reason to expect less in WWE 2K26. Also, this one has thumbtacks.
3) Marathon
There’s no need to relitigate the winding path Bungie has traveled to get here. All I know is that the makers of Halo and Destiny are delivering their first game outside those franchises in a quarter-century. The extraction shooter still has questions to answer, but Bungie has always known how to deliver quality FPS experiences, so I will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt until they give me a reason to do otherwise.
2) Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf
Ever since stumbling across the original Planet of Lana on Xbox Game Pass last year, I have been excited for the sequel. Planet of Lana II looks to build on the original, expanding its scope, adding new abilities, and introducing new biomes of Novo.
1) Crimson Desert
When I did my 26 Games to Play in 2026 list, Crimson Desert landed the ninth spot. Everything I’ve seen since then has ratcheted up my interest level and enthusiasm. That Pearl Abyss has been so aggressively pushing out videos showing off its world, combat, and more tells me it believes it has a winner. If it’s as good as it looks like it can be, it’ll join Resident Evil Requiem as the second legit Game of the Year contender for 2026.
