Megan will be performing beginning on March 24 for eight weeks through May 17 at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre in New York City, and she’s also making history by doing so: it’s the first time a female-identifying performer is portraying the character in any Moulin Rouge production worldwide, Variety notes.
Tituss Burgess, Boy George, Wayne Brady and Bob the Drag Queen have all taken on the role thus far.
“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor. I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me,” Megan said in a statement.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical, an adaptation of the 2001 movie musical, will close on July 26 after seven years on Broadway.
Megan also just appeared in a new TV show!
