Women's U.S. Hockey Star Hilary Knight Breaks Silence on Trump's Comment About Her Team: 'Distasteful' & 'Unfortunate'
Women’s U.S. Hockey star Hilary Knight is speaking out about that Donald Trump comment.
If you did not see, the 79-year-old President received backlash for his comment about the women’s team in a phone call to the men’s team after their gold medal match.
While inviting the men to the State of the Union, he said, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team. You do know that,” as men’s hockey team members laughed. He then said, “I do believe I’d probably would be impeached [if the women’s team wasn’t invited].”
The Men’s hockey team did end up visiting Washington, DC, but the Women’s team declined the invite.
Hilary was asked about all this.

“We just thought the joke was distasteful and unfortunate. I think, just the way women are represented, it’s a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats. And now I sort of have to sit, or anybody has to sit in front of you and explain someone else’s behavior. It’s not my responsibility,” she shared on Wednesday (February 25).
