Igor Tudor addresses claims Micky van de Ven ignored him in Tottenham vs Arsenal
A brief clip from Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Arsenal sparked debate this week, with Micky van de Ven appearing to ignore instructions from Igor Tudor on the touchline. The Spurs head coach has now addressed the incident directly.
Igor Tudor’s Tottenham Hotspur start was far from ideal following the 4-1 defeat against Arsenal last weekend.
It was a performance of two halves, with Spurs putting in a solid display in the first half but falling short in the second after the Gunners turned it up a notch.
The game, though, was not without its talking points, including a clip that surfaced showing Micky van de Ven appearing to ignore Tudor’s instructions to step up during the clash.

Speaking about the incident and addressing the frustration seen on the touchline, Tudor explained what the moment was about and denied that Van de Ven had deliberately ignored him.
He told football.london: “It was about the team where we needed to get up if we wanted to press high. In this moment maybe it is too much for them. Maybe that is what the frustration is [from me].
“If you watch carefully I do not speak with him [in that moment], after I said to him to come closer and he comes closer.
“In that moment, it was for the whole defence. We did not talk about it because nothing happened. He is a fantastic professional and a fantastic guy; he would not do something like this [ignore me].”
Spurs handed a defensive boost after Arsenal setback
Tudor can now call on more defensive reinforcement, with both Kevin Danso and Pedro Porro back in contention.
Last week against Arsenal, Tottenham struggled defensively, with both Radu Dragusin and Joao Palhinha finding it difficult against the Gunners.
The return of Danso could help improve the backline and allow Spurs to be more aggressive as Tudor continues to implement his tactical philosophy.
