No. 4 Arkansas seeks 12th consecutive SEC Indoor title
COLLEGE STATION – No. 4 Arkansas enters the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships as 11-time defending champions with Texas A&M serving as host for a second consecutive year.

National rankings heading into the conference meet have No. 2 Georgia leading the SEC programs followed by No. 4 Arkansas, No. 5 South Carolina, No. 14 Florida, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 18 Alabama, No. 19 Texas, and No. 23 Kentucky.
In conference rankings, which measures a team’s depth, the SEC order includes Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, and Oklahoma among the top 10.
Georgia’s lone women’s indoor team title occurred in 2006 while Florida, who has claimed eight indoor titles, last won the SEC Indoor in 2014, a year before the Razorbacks current winning streak.
The Razorbacks totaled 117.5 points in securing an 11th consecutive SEC Indoor title in 2025 and league record 15th in program history. Oklahoma (62) finished as runner-up with LSU (60.33) third and Georgia (57) fourth.
“It’s crazy to think about winning 11 in a row in any event, but winning that many SEC Indoor titles is impressive,” noted Arkansas women’s head coach Chris Johnson. “We haven’t talked about the streak with the team.
“Every team is different, each year it’s a new team. We’re just trying to get this team prepared to go out and do their very, very best.”
Returning individual medalists for the Arkansas include Sydney Vaught, 5,000m gold medalist in 2024, Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, twice a silver medalist in the 800m, along with bronze medalists with Kaylyn Brown (400m twice) and Analisse Batista (800m). Last season Arkansas placed fourth in both relays.
“I always tell the kids this meet is about beating people and it’s a championship meet,” said Johnson. “We’re not going to look ahead to the NCAA Indoor meet. We want to get through this meet and do the very best we possibly can because this is the SEC meet and it’s very important to us.”
The seniors on the Razorback squad supply a key role in passing down the tradition Arkansas has in championship settings.
“We have a senior speak at every team meeting that we have,” noted Johnson. “They’re going to relay the message that here’s what you need to do and here’s how you need to prepare based on the things they’ve done to be successful.
“As our coaching staff get the kids ready to go they know the expectation and understand what they need to do. We just need to go out and be confident and execute. I think we’ll be just fine.”
Quality and depth in the 400m and 800m are key event areas for Arkansas. Jallow-Lockhart and Batista are currently 1-2 in the 800m to lead the SEC while Ainsley Erzen and Makenna Herbst rank 4-5 in the event.
The Razorbacks enter the meet with top conference times in the 4 x 400m and distance medley relay.
