Who Are The Mothers Of Elon Musk’s 14 Kids?
Elon Musk reportedly wants a “legion-level” of children, and he’s well on his way with 14 children from four different women. The mothers of Musk’s many kids include his ex-wife Justine Wilson Musk, ex-girlfriend Grimes, business associate Shivon Zilis, and conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair.
But what do we really know about the mothers of a billonaire’s heirs? Some have spoken out against Musk, others have sung his praises, and some have done both, depending on the day. We did a deep dive to learn more about all the mothers of the Tesla co-founder’s kids…that we know of.
Who Are The Mothers of Elon Musk’s Kids?
Musk has 14 children with four different women: Justine Wilson, Grimes, Shivon Zillis and Ashley St. Clair.
- Musk shares six children with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson, including their first child, a boy named Nevada, who died as an infant.
- Musk has three children with musician Grimes.
- Musk shares four children with tech executive Shivon Zilis.
- Musk has one child with conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair.
Justine Wilson Musk
Justine Wilson Musk married Elon in 2000 after meeting him at Queen’s University in Canada. They welcomed six kids during their 8 years of marriage, including son Nevada, who died at 10 weeks old in 2002, twins Vivian Wilson and Griffin, born in 2004, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, born in 2006.
In a Sept. 2010 essay for Marie Claire, Justine called herself “a starter wife” for the SpaceX founder, writing that during their wedding reception, Musk told her, “I am the alpha in this relationship.” He treated her like she was beneath him. Justine wrote, “Elon’s judgment overruled mine, and he was constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking. ‘I am your wife,’ I told him repeatedly, ‘not your employee.’ ‘If you were my employee,’ he said just as often, ‘I would fire you.’”
After a car accident left Justine more worried about what her husband would think than if she was OK, she confronted him. “I told Elon, in a soft voice that was nonetheless filled with conviction, that I needed our life to change,” she wrote. “I didn’t want to be a sideline player in the multimillion-dollar spectacle of my husband’s life. I wanted equality. I wanted partnership. I wanted to love and be loved, the way we had before he made all his millions.”

He ended up filing for divorce one month later. At the time of the essay, she wrote that she is “estranged from Elon” and only communicated about the children “with his assistant.”
It doesn’t seem like their relationship improved over the years.
In a March 2025 interview with Teen Vogue, Justine and Elon’s daughter Vivian spoke briefly about her mom’s relationship with her ex-husband. “I don’t keep up with that side of the family because… I don’t,” Vivian told the outlet. “My mom doesn’t really either. She’s divorced.”
Vivian, who came out as transgender in 2020, spoke highly of her mom’s support in the interview. “She’s been supportive of the choices that I have made in college, about being public,” Vivian shared. “She kind of was like, ‘Well, I can’t stop you, so whatever.’ Does it stress her out? Yes. But she’s ultimately fine with it.”
Justine is a modern fantasy author of BLOODANGEL and other books and has spoken about creativity for TEDx three times, according to her X bio.

Grimes
Musk and singer Grimes share three children together: X Æ A-Xii “X,” born in 2020, Exa Dark Sideræl “Y,” born in 2021, and Techno Mechanicus “Tau,” born in 2022.
The pair started dating in 2018, and had an on-again, off-again relationship until 2022. In a March 2022 Vanity Fair interview, Grimes explained their relationship like this: “There’s no real word for it. I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…. We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”
“This is the best it’s ever been…. We just need to be free,” she continued, adding that they planned on having “at least three or four [kids].”
In Oct. 2023, Grimes sued Musk for parental rights to their three children following claims on X that Musk was withholding their kids from her. They have had some public disagreements since then. In March 2025, she complained about Musk parading their son X around the White House.
“I unfortunately do not control the internet and cannot wipe this from the internet,” she tweeted. “I have tried begging the public and my kids’ dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse.”
“It’s insane to me that there’s no way to deal with this,” Grimes continued. “I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives, but I don’t even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it tbh.”
In Jan. 2026, the “Genesis” singer revealed another “huge debate” they have over parenting.
Someone asked Grimes on X if her kids “get screen time,” and her answer showed how she and Musk are not on the same page. “Huge debate cuz the other parent is fine w it but it’s fairly avoided,” she wrote. “If it happens we focus on great art and ideally slower stuff like [Studio Ghibli movies] that isn’t constantly changing context.”
Shivon Zilis
A few weeks before Musk welcomed daughter Y with Grimes, he secretly welcomed twins Strider and Azure, born in 2021, with Shivon Zilis. Zilis, an executive at Musk’s company Neuralink, and Musk later welcomed daughter Arcadia in Feb. 2024 and son Seldon Lycurgus in Feb. 2025.
Zilis is a Canadian technology executive and venture capitalist. She is reportedly dating Musk. In a Nov. 2025 appearance on Nikhil Kamath’s WTF is? podcast, Musk called Zilis his “partner.” “I’m not sure if you know this, but my partner Shivon is half Indian,” Musk said, adding, “One of my sons with her, his middle name is Sekhar after Chandrasekhar.”
Journalist Walter Isaacson interviewed Zilis for his book, Elon Musk, in 2023, where she chatted about her decision to have kids with Musk. “He really wants smart people to have kids, so he encouraged me to do this,” Zilis said in the book, per People. She was going to go through an anonymous sperm donor until Musk suggested he could be the donor, and she agreed.
“I can’t possibly think of genes I would prefer for my children,” Zilis added.

Ashley St. Clair
Musk wasn’t necessarily planning on announcing that Ashley St. Clair was the fourth mother of his 14th child — but she decided to break the news herself.
In Feb. 2025, St. Clair revealed that she welcomed son Romulus with Musk in 2024. “I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that the tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause,” she wrote in part on X. “I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment. For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting.”
In April 2025, Musk denied knowing anything about the baby, writing on X, “I don’t know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed. Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”
She publicly replied, alleging that Musk was offered the chance to do a paternity test before the baby was born and even saying that he named their son.

“You refused. And you weren’t sending *me* money, you were sending support for your child that you thought was necessary … until you withdrew most of it to maintain control and punish me for ‘disobedience,’” St. Clair said, claiming that Musk cut the child support payments by 60 percent. “But you’re really only punishing your son.”
She accused him of trying “to gag” her from speaking about it. “It’s all about control with you, and everyone can see it,” she continued. “America needs you to grow up, you petulant man-child.”
This echoes the statements she gave to the New York Post in Feb. 2025, where she claims she and Musk began a romantic relationship through X DMs before meeting in real life. But when she got pregnant, things changed. “I was told to keep it a secret,” St. Clair told the outlet. “I was being asked to keep it a secret forever.”
“I was completely isolated during my pregnancy,” she added. “Every part of my career and everything I used to do I couldn’t do anymore. I was told not to tell anybody.”
She said that people found out anyway, and she decided to say something to keep her son safe. “There was a cohort of very violent stalkers who started threatening my toddler, they would send me photos of him with blood and that I would witness his blood splattering death and saying I was Elon’s whore,” St. Clair said, adding that a tabloid threatened to go public before she announced the baby news on X.
Still, she believes it was all worth it. “My child is the most perfect thing that happened to me. I wouldn’t change anything,” St. Clair told the outlet.
In Jan. 2026, St. Clair apologized for previous transphobic statements, which set off Musk. “Idrk how to make amends for many of these things but I have been trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt,” she wrote in part on X.
Musk, who has previously claimed that his trans daughter Vivian was “killed by the woke-mind virus,” did not like this message. He replied, asserting that he wanted full custody of Romulus because of it. “I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy,” he wrote, despite no evidence that she wanted to transition her baby son.
The same month, St. Clair sued Musk’s xAI artificial intelligence company, claiming that it enabled people to use its AI tool Grok to create sexually explicit deepfake photos of her.
