Liza Minelli Teases Her Love Affairs With Big Hollywood Stars

Liza Minelli is dishing on her past love affairs.

The 79-year-old entertainer is gearing up to release her new memoir, “Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!,” and in it, spills on the big name Hollywood guys she’s been with.

But before the book is out, she’s teasing some of those romances in a new interview!

Among those in her dating life back in the day include Desi Arnaz Jr (the son of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball), Martin Scorsese and David Gest.

“We could look at life and help each other through the tough spots,” she says of Desi, via People.

While they were together, however, she was performing in London in 1973 when she fell “head over heels” with Peter Sellers, who sat front row at her opening night.

At that point, she was still married to Peter Allen, and at the same time, also engaged to Desi Arnaz Jr.

However, her relationship with Peter Sellers didn’t last long and was still married to Peter Allen until 1974.

After they divorced that year, she then married Jack Haley Jr, who is the son of Jack Haley, the man who played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz alongside her mom Judy Garland!

During that marriage, she had an affair with Martin Scorsese, who directed her 1977 movie New York, New York.

“Truth be told, our love affair had more layers than a lasagna. We were both Italian. Passionate. Intense. Committed to our craft. We both had volcanic tempers. He was a diabolically handsome man who shared my love for film. I was a director’s daughter,” Liza writes.

Years later, she reached out to Desi to apologize, “But Desi stopped me,” the actress says. “‘Liza,’ he said, ‘All I remember is the love. Please let everything else go. I have.’ Talk about a gentleman.”

Another big name she had a romance with… Pippin star Ben Vereen.

She also dished about her marriage to David Gest, who she notes was controlling, and she says she “clearly wasn’t sober when I married this clown.”

“He didn’t just control everything I ate, from morning to night. he controlled the people I saw and spoke to on the phone,” Liza says. “He screened my calls. In truth, I was his prisoner.”

That marriage only lasted a couple years before she filed for divorce in 2003, though it wasn’t finalized until 2007.

While she’s been single for some time, she still has hopes for love again.

“Ideally, I’d like to date an older elegant man who dresses beautifully and is filthy rich,” Liza shares. “Then I’d like to date a 40-year-old guy who is passionate about something. I don’t care what. Then I’d like to date an 18-year-old, who I see twice a week and whose name I don’t know.”
