Fabrizio Romano reveals Darwin Nunez update after Tottenham open talks
Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the possibility of Darwin Nunez returning to the Premier League after Tottenham began talks over a deal for the former Liverpool man.
Nunez has scored nine goals and provided five assists for Al-Hilal in 24 appearances since his move from Liverpool to the Saudi club last summer.
However, the centre-forward has been left out of the club’s Saudi Pro League squad after the arrival of Karim Benzema in January due to a limit on how many overseas players clubs can name in their squad.
It emerged over the weekend that Tottenham have held talks with intermediaries over a move for Nunez, who is thought to be looking to engineer a move to Europe.

Romano revealed that the Uruguay international is not happy after being left out of Al-Hilal’s league squad for the rest of the season.
The journalist revealed that a return to Europe is on the cards for the 26-year-old in the summer, with several clubs already looking at the situation.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Darwin Nunez is going to be a big topic for the summer transfer window because he’s now out of the Al-Hilal squad for the Saudi Pro League, only playing the Asian Champions League.
“Darwin Nunez is not happy at all about the situation, he can’t be happy. He only joined a few months ago and now out of the squad in the Pro League. It’s a technical decision after Benzema joined, and you can imagine a big character like Nunez can’t be happy.
“Darwin could be back to Europe in the summer, it’s a possibility. Follow the Nunez situation in the next months because there will be movements and there are several clubs already looking at that situation, from Europe and not only.
“It will be up to Darwin to decide. In Saudi the salary is completely different. In Europe it would be reduced, and so it’s up to Darwin to decide whether he wants to go somewhere where he can get big money still as he’s doing at Al-Hilal, or maybe go back to Europe [for less money].”

Randal Kolo Muani finally scored his first Premier League goal for Tottenham in the North London derby, and the Frenchman may hope to get a run of starts under Igor Tudor, having worked with the Croat at Juventus last season.
However, reports indicate that Tottenham are not expected to buy Kolo Muani permanently in the summer, with the striker set to return to his parent club PSG.
Additionally, there have also been claims that Spurs and Richarlison have decided to go their separate ways at the end of this season.
The Lilywhites will thus likely be in the market for a number nine to compete with Dominic Solanke, and Nunez’s experience in the Premier League may make him an attractive option for the club.
