VP Jane Ansah Hails Japan’s Role in Transforming Malawi’s Infrastructure
The Government has expressed appreciation to the Government of Japan for its continued support towards development in Malawi.
Vice President Jane Ansah made the remarks during a courtesy call by the Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Naito Yasushi.
Ansah highlighted the M001 Road expansion and reconstruction project, part of the Nacala Corridor initiative supported by Japan’s seven billion US dollar commitment.
She described it as a key development with the potential to transform regional trade and strengthen economic integration.
She acknowledged Japan’s contributions through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers programme.
Ansah also reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment to attracting more Japanese investment and ensuring that Japanese companies operating in the country can function effectively, benefiting both their business success and the development of Malawi and Japan.
In response, Ambassador Naito Yasushi reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to promoting further Japanese investment in Malawi, emphasizing plans to strengthen bilateral business relations, particularly in infrastructure development and the mining sector.
