THE LOWDOWN
Darren McGregor’s side have made a blistering start to the CAS Elite U19 League Cup; winning two games from two to make the strongest possible start to the group stage.
St Mirren were defeated 2-0 in December at K-Park, before Rangers were convincingly beaten last time out at HTC.
The visitors were reduced to 10-men early on following Callum Adamson’s dismissal for a reckless challenge on Jamie McMurdo – though Rangers did take a shock lead before half-time through Oliver Hynd.
Second-half strikes from Reiss Downie and Dean Cleland, who grabbed a brace, turned the game on its head for the wee Hibees to rightfully earn a 3-1 win.
THE VISITORS
Last week, our upcoming opponents fell to a 3-0 home loss to Rangers. The Light Blues secured a comfortable win at K-Park through goals from Callum Burnside and Jack Wyllie.
The ‘Well have struggled in the league this season and currently sit bottom of the eight-team CAS Elite U19 League division; picking up one win from 10 to accrue three points.
Our last clash against the North Lanarkshire club was on matchday two, all the way back in August, at Dalziel Park.
Jamie McMurdo opened the scoring inside five minutes after finishing from a low Logan Jimenez cutback, before firing in his second from outside the box in the second half. A late ‘Well penalty proved to be just a consolation as the wee Hibees walked away with a 2-1 win.
