Let Christ Define You, Not The World Around You

Today, I realized my real worth once again.

Not because a friend complimented me, or some random guy tried to flirt with me on Facebook, or someone labelled me beautiful, or someone from Twitter told me they like what I write – NO.

I found my real worth in a place I almost forgot.

Most of the time, we look for outlets in order for us to realize our real worth. It’s inevitable. We want someone to be there for us and offer things we think we “deserve”, we chase after people thinking we are better off with them, we work harder than anyone we know just to climb up the ladder of success, we risk our health just to earn as much as we can, as fast as we can, we want to look good, feel good and be the best version of ourselves – don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with all these. But if this becomes the sole purpose of our lives and it becomes the ultimate goal, if we cling to this idea, relentlessly. The result is, we wake up every single day of our lives, living for these things but still feeling exhausted and drained.

And when all is said and done, we still feel empty.

If you’re searching for where your worth really lives. Read here.

How come we still feel empty? Maybe because we’re trying to look for our value in all the wrong places. We are looking at a man thinking a romantic relationship will define us, or a job hoping that the workload will somehow fill this hole inside us, or a bank account, assuming that each cent will somehow bring happiness that can ease the emptiness of our souls, or a mirror, feeling so confident in ourselves, thinking we are superior, we can do this or that, thinking we are the best — when we should only be looking UP, looking to the only God that could and should define us.

Sometimes we don’t realize the real value we have in Christ.

We willingly crave for things outside Jesus and we let these things define us. We let the world and its standards give meaning to who we are or who we should be.

We allow our career, love life, background or wealth, consume us, consume our entirety. Slowly but surely, we started living for other things thinking they’re far more important than Christ.

If you’re rediscovering what truly matters, check here.

These things become number one in our lives and Jesus becomes a side dish. We allow Jesus to be a schedule we check on a Sunday and on the weekdays, we tirelessly live for these things in pursuit of defining our real value.

But the thing is, if we don’t know the richness we have in Christ, we will always compare ourselves to others thinking that we are not enough; we will always run after worldly things, thinking we have less, we are insufficient, we are poor. We will only run and grew tired — achieving nothing valuable. I mean, what is our standard, anyway? If it’s the world, then yes – we are less. But if it’s Jesus, then we are enough.

The reality is: we are complete and we are rich in Jesus. We are winners.

Christ is the only one who can perfectly define us.

How we view Christ affects the way we live, the amount of His significance in our lives affect how we see things. We need to see a BIGGER Jesus in our lives. CHRIST ABOVE ALL. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thus, to everyone who is struggling with their real value, let me tell you this: You are very much valued, not to the world, but only and only in Christ.

Realize just how important and worth it you are in Him. That your status, your money, your work, your dates will never ever be a variable of your value. You can never allow these things to define you.

Today, I’m choosing to be defined in Christ. I may be weak and somehow lost, but He found me. He always does.

I hope with all my heart, that no matter how hard it may be, you will also choose to be defined by Christ and by His unconditional love for you. Not by the labels this world paste on your soul, not by the norms, not by how people treat you – but only in Christ.

A tender reminder of who you are in Him. Pause here for a gentle word.

You are His child. You are chosen. You are beautiful. You are loved. And above all, you hold an enormous value. Don’t forget that.
