Urgent recall for more children’s toys because they contain asbestos
More children’s toys have been urgently recalled over fears they contain asbestos.
Parents have been urged to chuck away a popular kid’s sand kit due to the risk of contamination.
Batches of the Kids Create Sand Art Kits ‘may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos’, the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) said.
The recall comes after Asda recalled its Stretcherz ‘Stretch’ and ‘Slammers’ figures over asbestos concerns.

Now parents are being told not to open the Kids Create Sand Art Kits because the sand could have traces of asbestos.
Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure.
The batches affected in recall were sold from January 2025 and February 2026, with the barcode 5012128618222 and model YKICACA4A016.
The kits contain three 20g bags of coloured sand.
The OPSS said the produce had been recalled by the manufacturer IG
Design Group UK Limited.
Parents have been advices to dispose of the kit with a heavy-duty plastic bag, which they should double tape securely and label.
If the sand has already been used, wet cloths should be used to clean up the site while wearing gloves and a mask.
On February 17, Asda recalled two other children’s toys over fears they may contain traces of asbestos.
The supermarket giant issued an urgent recall for its Stretcherz ‘Stretch’ and ‘Slammers’ figures.
While the retailer has received no reports of harm, they are recalling the toys out of an ‘abundance of caution’.
Shoppers who bought the toys, which were sold between January 2024 and February 2026, are urged to return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
The recall affects products with the barcode numbers 5050837662419 and 5050835105345.
An Asda spokesperson said the ‘overall risk is considered low, but because asbestos shouldn’t be present in any amount, we are recalling the affected items as a precaution.’
