Carrick makes 1 big change | Predicted Man Utd XI vs Everton with £37m star dropped
Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Everton on the road tonight.
The Red Devils have been in tremendous form in the English top-flight and have secured 13 points from their last five matches.
Michael Carrick’s appointment as interim manager has transformed their fortunes, and the club will be eyeing another victory.
United are presently only goal difference behind fourth-placed Chelsea and can go three points clear by beating the Toffees.
Ahead of the game, we predict just one change from the 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been an undisputed starter between the sticks since making his debut against Sunderland in October. He has been unlucky with just four clean sheets and will be eyeing another shutout tonight.
In front of him, there appears no need to change the backline. Harry Maguire has recovered from a hamstring injury scare and looks fully fit for the encounter. He should partner Lisandro Martinez in the heart of the defence.
Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are poised to continue in the full-back positions for the Red Devils.
Similarly, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have been exceptional as a central midfield pairing, and there is no reason to switch things. Mainoo has found a new lease of life under Carrick and is back in contention for the England squad.
In the final third, there could be a solitary change. Amad Diallo was wasteful against the Hammers on the road. The Ivorian failed to deliver a single quality cross into the box, despite finding himself in some brilliant attacking positions.
The £37 million signing could be dropped to the bench for Benjamin Sesko’s first start under Carrick. Sesko has been a revelation as a substitute since the turn of the year. He scored a late winner against Fulham at Old Trafford.
He replicated the feat against the Hammers with a 96th-minute equaliser. The Slovenian deserves a starting berth. With him leading the line, Bryan Mbeumo should move to his regular right wing role, replacing Amad tonight.
Mbeumo provided a fantastic cross from the right flank for Sesko’s dramatic leveller at West Ham. The rest of the attack should stay unchanged. Bruno Fernandes is guaranteed to start in the number 10 position, while Matheus Cunha should continue on the left side of the Red Devils’ attack.
