China Urges U.S. to Drop Unilateral Tariffs After Supreme Court Ruling
China calls on Washington to cancel unilateral tariffs following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision, warning such measures violate international trade rules.
China’s Ministry of Commerce said it is conducting a full review of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on trade tariffs and urged the United States to revoke unilateral tariff measures against its trading partners.
The ministry emphasized that unilateral U.S. tariffs violate both international trade law and domestic regulations, providing no benefit to either side.
China also said it is closely monitoring U.S. efforts to maintain tariffs through alternative means, such as trade investigations, and will defend its interests.
U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit China from March 31 to April 2 for talks between the two largest global economies.
The Supreme Court ruling struck down many of the tariffs imposed under the Trump administration, including those targeting China, prompting Beijing’s response.
China’s call for tariff removal underscores ongoing trade tensions and the need for cooperation between the world’s two largest economies to ensure fair trade practices.
