Man Utd eyeing move for £57m Bundesliga star: How did he fare vs Bayern?
Manchester United could enter the transfer market for a new left-back during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils presently have Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as their senior left-back options, but the latter has been more comfortable in an attacking role.
Dorgu has been mesmerising to watch as a wide attacker for the Red Devils this year, and it could become his regular position at United in seasons to come.
Hence, a new left-back could be pursued this summer. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown is one of the players who has been linked on numerous occasions.
The 22-year-old is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit at the end of the campaign, but he won’t come on the cheap with a £57 million price tag.
United will no doubt monitor his performances over the coming months, but his latest showing in the 3-2 defeat at Bayern will have impressed the Red Devils.
Brown started in the left wing-back position, captaining Eintracht for the first time from the off.
The Germany international caught the eye with his attacking runs and completed an impressive 88 percent of his passes with a couple of accurate crosses.
Brown also impressed with his overlapping runs and could have had an assist in the closing minutes. Eintracht almost came from 3-0 down to share the spoils.
Brown has been in superb form since Albert Riera took charge as manager in late January. He has accumulated three goals and six assists so far this term.
The former Nurnberg graduate has shown his versatility at Eintracht this campaign, operating as a left-back, a left wing-back, or occasionally as a left winger.
Shaw seems an undisputed starter at left-back for United, but the hierarchy could look at a strong competitor alongside him if Dorgu’s future lies in the final third.
