Novato police report gunshot victim at Highway 37

A man with bullet wound was found in a vehicle on Highway 37 in Novato, police reported.

Around 3 p.m. Saturday, officers were notified about the victim seen on the south side of the highway between Highway 101 and Atherton Avenue.

Lt. Alan Bates reported the 50-year-old Novato resident sustained several gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

The shooter remained at large Sunday. Bates said the shooting likely happened while the vehicle was driving on the highway. Investigators do not know if the perpetrator was the driver or a passenger, he reported.
