Newlywed Gets Revenge on Friend Who Ghosted After Getting Paid to Photograph Their Wedding with Ultimate 'Power Move'

A frustrated newlywed has been waiting seven months for photos from their wedding, and they are taking drastic measures to make sure that the pics get delivered after their photographer friend ghosted.

Taking to Reddit‘s popular “Wedding Shaming” forum, the person noted that their friend had gone “no contact,” despite already having been paid for the pictures from their big day.

More than three months after the photos were supposed to be delivered, they took drastic measures to try and get their friend’s attention. Fellow Redditors dubbed their actions the ultimate “power move.”

In their post, the person noted that they’d been friends with the photographer for eight years before they agreed to have them photograph the wedding. Since they’d been friends for so long, they admitted that they opted out of signing a contract.

“We paid them in full before the wedding and were given an estimate of 12 weeks,” the Redditor wrote, saying, “It’s been way past that, we tried reaching out multiple times giving ample time to respond between communications.”

Despite their efforts, the friend was not getting back to the couple. They also assured readers that the photographer was fine and had been active online “pretty much every day.”

After checking social media, the newlywed decided that it was time to get their pal’s attention. They did so by purchasing the domain name to their website, and they are holding it hostage.

“They have one week to respond to us, if they don’t, they’ll receive legal communication from our lawyers next. Hoping it won’t come to that,” the incensed newlywed wrote.

In responses to fellow Redditors, they gave even more information, telling one person that they were “kinda petty” and decided to buy “10 additional domains that are very common in the business.”

It would be a shame if these 10 websites popped up redirecting to a giant warning label.”

They added that the warning label could read: “Hello, I’m a photographer based in XYZ. I specialize in taking your money and ghosting you.”

As for why they let this situation expand so long past the wedding, they wrote that they didn’t want to make it look like they were pressuring the friend. However, now that it’s been so long, they’re prepared to “go full tilt.”

Many Redditors praised the smart decision, with one describing the revenge plan as a “power move” and the “perfect escalation.”

Another commenter urged them to take the photographer to court, writing, “If you had any conversations before the wedding via text or email, that can be used as evidence. You had an agreement that they would provide a service for money and they have not done so. Even without an official contract, that is still enough to go on for you to either get the photos or get your money back.”

The original poster replied, saying that they were ready to take legal action and had “saved all screenshots, emails, receipts.”

Others viewed this as a learning opportunity for future brides and grooms.

“I shoot weddings for friends and friends-of-friends, as I don’t care enough to pursue wedding photography full-time. Regardless of how well we know one another, everyone signs a contract. This situation sucks and I’m sorry it happened to you,” one person wrote.

Another agreed and took it one step further, adding, “I think that’s the moral of this story as well along with ‘don’t hire your friends for your wedding.’ “
