Juventus could rival Inter for Tottenham keeper after continuous Di Gregorio errors
Reports in Italy claim that Juventus could make a move for Inter-linked Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario this summer amidst growing concerns surrounding the form of current Bianconeri no.1 Michele Di Gregorio.
Di Gregorio has come under fire in recent weeks after a series of high-profile errors in matches against Lazio, Inter and most recently against Como. Juventus collectively find themselves in a troubling run of form with four losses from their last five matches across all competitions and 15 goals conceded across that period.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus could be poised to bring in a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.
The Bianconeri had toyed with the idea of signing Mike Maignan, who had been into the final few months of his contract with Milan until signing a long-term renewal at the end of January. That move is now a no-goer.
Could Juventus make a move for Tottenham’s Vicario?
Now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are keen to add an Italian shot-stopper to their ranks, given that aside from Di Gregorio, Andrea Cambiaso and Manuel Locatelli are the only ‘Italian starters’ in the current Bianconeri squad.
The Pink Paper claims that Tottenham’s Vicario, who has also been linked with a move to Inter this summer, is currently the no.1 pick for Juventus.
Given that Vicario is now 30, will be into the final two years of his Tottenham contract in the summer, and is said to be keen on the idea of a return to Serie A, it is unlikely that Tottenham will be able to demand much more than €25m-€30m for the former Empoli stopper this summer.
Vicario reportedly earns a salary in the region of €4.5m per season at Tottenham, which would not exceed Juve’s current salary structure.
