Humber and Red Deer Lead the Charge into the CCAA Semi-Finals
The final day of round-robin play at the 2026 CCAA Canadian Curling Championships solidified the playoff bracket after a day of high-stakes finishes. The Humber Hawks finished as the undisputed leaders in the Men’s division, carrying a perfect 7–0 record into the medal round. They are followed closely by the NAIT Ooks and the Gaillards du Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, who both finished with 5–2 records, while Sault College claimed the final playoff spot with 4 wins. In the Women’s division, Red Deer Polytechnic and SAIT ended the round robin at the top of the table with matching 6–1 records. PacWest secured the third seed with 5 wins, and the Concordia Thunder took the final semi-final berth by finishing 4–3.
The Men’s semi-finals will feature a collision between the undefeated Humber Hawks and the fourth-seeded Sault College. While Humber won their Draw 12 match comfortably, Sault College proved they can put up high scores, making this a dangerous matchup for the top seed. On the other sheet, the NAIT Ooks and the Gaillards will face off in what promises to be a tight battle between two teams that have been nearly identical in performance all week. The Gaillards enter with momentum after a massive 9–4 victory in the final draw, while NAIT has shown they can win the close ones, as evidenced by their narrow 6–5 victory over Sault College.
The Women’s path to the podium is led by the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, who will take on the Concordia Thunder in the semi-finals. Red Deer has been a model of consistency, finishing with the best LSD rank distance in the field. Their opponent, Concordia, enters as the underdog but showed grit today with a 5–4 win over Niagara. The other semi-final features a high-profile rematch between the SAIT Trojans and PacWest. SAIT controlled their Draw 14 meeting with a 5–3 win, but PacWest’s ability to keep games close suggests the run to the gold medal will be a battle of nerves.
