Sweden Urges Citizens to Leave Iran Immediately

Sweden has advised its citizens to immediately leave Iran, citing increasing instability in the region and escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday warned that the situation in Iran and the surrounding region is extremely uncertain. Citizens currently in Iran are strongly urged to depart immediately.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard stressed that flights and border crossings remain operational but emphasized that individuals staying in Iran assume significant personal responsibility. She warned that the Swedish government may be unable to provide assistance in evacuation efforts.

The advisory comes as the United States has warned of potential military action if Tehran fails to reach a nuclear agreement with Washington, escalating fears across the region.

Sweden also cautioned that its citizens should avoid traveling to Iran until further notice, as any diplomatic or security situation could deteriorate rapidly.

Tensions between Iran and the U.S. have surged in recent months over stalled nuclear talks, with Washington threatening targeted strikes if a deal is not reached. European governments, including Sweden, have expressed concerns about regional security and the safety of their citizens.

Iran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, while the U.S. and allies accuse Tehran of attempting to develop nuclear weapons capabilities. Previous escalations have led to travel warnings and evacuations for foreign nationals.

Sweden’s government continues to monitor the situation closely and urged all citizens in Iran to make immediate plans to leave, highlighting the risk of sudden military escalation.
