Why Jennifer Garner's Kids With Ben Affleck Think She's 'Fully Cringe'
It doesn’t matter if you’re a movie star and friends with some of the coolest people in Hollywood — your kids are still not going to find you cool. At least, that’s the case for Jennifer Garner, who shares kids Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 20, with ex Ben Affleck. Garner recently revealed that her kids find her “fully cringe,” and it’s so relatable.
In a Feb. 19 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, host Jennifer Hudson asked how she gets “cool points” from her kids. “You’re providing my cool points today!” Garner replied, prompting Hudson to say, “I hope it’s working!”
“My kids do not — I mean, I am fully cringe,” The Last Thing He Told Me star continued. “I am only embarrassing. I asked my kids if they were going to watch this season of the show, and they were like, ‘Do you need us to?’” Garner said with a laugh. So cute!
“But I mean, kids don’t want to see their parents, right?” she added. “They don’t want to see us cry or have a romantic scene or anything. We’re just embarrassing.”
Garner did say that her co-stars Angourie Rice and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau give her “cool points” with her kids, too, especially the latter as her son Samuel is “really into Game of Thrones right now.”
“And they all love Aunt Judy,” Garner continued, referring to her 13 Going on 30 co-star Judy Greer, who is on Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me.
“Oh, you got ‘em!” Hudson said.
Garner quipped, “I get by with a little help from my friends.”
The feeling is not mutual, however, as Garner finds her kids very cool. In an interview with Marie Claire UK last month, the Alias alum gushed that her kids are “just so cool.”
“Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth….” she told the outlet. “You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”
Still, she doesn’t have to worry because she’s “so proud of how they walk through the world, and proud of them for trying hard.”
With a mom as supportive as Garner, how could they not be doing great?!
