Pop, Rock, R&B, and Reggae Reformers
ZZ Top will share the stage with Cheap Trick. Soul singer Smokey Robinson will join the party with Gladys Knight,Ziggy Marley, Burning Spear, Al Green, Spin Doctors, and Blues Traveler.
Music from Wes Anderson Films
The eclectic films of Wes Anderson like the “Royal Tenenbaums” to the most recent “The Phoenician Scheme” follow moody and sometimes chaotic storylines, supported by music that enhances the visual experience. Songs from his films will be played at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Classic songs from the Rolling Stones and the Kinks and distinctive scores from Mark Mothersbaugh, once a lead singer for the new wave band Devo, will serve as the backdrop for this summer series.
Jazz Notes
The Blue Note Festival June 13-14 will feature Wyclef Jean, Samara Joy, Robert Glasper, Gregory Porter and more. Herbie Hancock will celebrate the melodic trumpeter Miles Davis in August. Wynton Marsalis will lead a jazz program in September.
Fourth of July
Art-rock singer St. Vincent, who played with Talking Head’s frontman David Byrne, will bring her eclectic musical stylings to the party, playing with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The Beach Boys will play with the same orchestra for a three-night July Fourth Fireworks Spectactular.
