More Details Emerge About Why Prince Andrew Was Arrested, Plus, the Royals Didn't Know Ahead of Time
A few more pieces of information have emerged in the arrest of ex Prince, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
If you did not see the news, Andrew was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office, with authorities investigating claims that he may have shared information with Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a British trade envoy. You can see the police statement here.
ABC News shared that Buckingham Palace was not informed ahead of time that the royal family member would be arrested today (February 19). By the way, it’s Andrew‘s 66th birthday today. “Buckingham Palace confirmed to ABC News that they were not informed ahead of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on Thursday,” the tweeted.
In addition, they are shedding light into what possible led to this arrest.

The news organization posted, “Several emails released by the U.S. Justice Department showed Epstein‘s correspondence with Andrew‘s aide David Stern and suggest the royal may have planned to use his role as a special U.K. representative for trade and investment to further his own business interests.”
If you don’t know, he did serve as a UK trade envoy from 2001 until 2011.
The royal family member’s association with Epstein has been referenced in Epstein Files documents. If you don’t recall, back in 2021, Prince Andrew was sued for sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, where she alleged abuse when she was part of late Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring at 17. The suit was settled a year later. He had denied wrongdoing.
