PREVIEW: Penybont United
After a narrow loss to The New Saints last Friday, we welcome another strong opponent to the Blue Turtle Arena on Saturday afternoon as we face Penybont in a 2:30 Kick Off.
The Bridgend based side still sit third in the league table, but have struggled in recent
months, only winning one game since our last meeting eight fixtures ago, a 1-0 away victory
against Llanelli.
Our last meeting, a dramatic 5-4 win for the Seagulls, is the highest scoreline of the season and
was a statement victory in our pursuit of a place within the top six ahead of phase two.
Despite this key result, manager Mike Wilde will be hoping to not be complacent as we were in the
closing stages of said meeting and to focus on being solid as a unit right until the end.
Penybont were dealt a double blow in the January window, losing two massively important
players in defender Gabe Kircough (Forest Green Rovers) and striker James Crole (Newport
County) that sees them in this significant position at this stage, Ethan Cann being brought
in from Llanelli to replace the latter.
He will be hoping to link up similarly well with Noah Daley, the striker netting 10 goals in Phase One and is regarded as one of the best young strikers in the division, definitely a player to look out for heading into Saturday.
We hope for another big performance, and turnout, on Saturday as we continue to battle to
be in a comfortable spot going into the playoffs.
With only seven games to go until then, we are hoping to see your continued support that has been key to our success this season.
