Top 25 roundup: No. 25 Alabama slips past No. 20 Arkansas in 2OT

Labaron Philon Jr. scored a season-high 35 points and added seven assists and No. 25 Alabama overcame a 14-point deficit for a wild 117-115 double overtime victory over No. 20 Arkansas on Wednesday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Crimson Tide prevailed despite yielding 49 points, a freshman school record, to the Razorbacks' Darius Acuff Jr.

Aiden Sherrell had a season-high 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Amari Allen logged 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Crimson Tide (19-7, 9-4 Southeastern Conference), who have won five straight. Meleek Thomas put up 24 for the Razorbacks (19-7, 9-4), who had won three in a row. Acuff and Thomas each made six 3-pointers.

Houston Mallette made a 3-pointer to give Alabama a 117-113 edge with 51 seconds left in the second OT. Trevon Brazile's dunk brought Arkansas within two before Acuff missed a floating layup in the final seconds.

No. 4 Arizona 75, No. 23 BYU 68

Reserve guard Anthony Dell'Orso scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Wildcats to a victory over the Cougars in Tucson, Ariz.

Arizona (24-2, 11-2 Big 12) snapped a two-game skid after winning its first 23 games, while BYU (19-7, 7-6) has lost five of its last seven games. Ivan Kharchenkov chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats, and Jaden Bradley tallied 12 points and 10 assists.

AJ Dybantsa finished with 35 points for the Cougars, shooting 13 of 28 from the floor. Robert Wright III recorded 13 points and Kennard Davis Jr. posted 10.

Creighton 91, No. 5 UConn 84

Josh Dix scored 21 points and Nik Graves added a season-high 18, lifting the Bluejays to an upset victory over the Huskies in Storrs, Conn.

Darryn Peterson scored 23 points as the Jayhawks cruised to a win over the Cowboys in Stillwater, Okla.

Bryson Tiller contributed 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for Kansas (20-6, 10-3 Big 12). Tre White tallied 16 points and Elmarko Jackson pitched in 14 points. Peterson played just three second-half minutes as the Jayhawks won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Parsa Fallah led Oklahoma State (16-10, 4-9) with 21 points. Anthony Roy added 16 points as the Cowboys lost their fourth straight game.

No. 10 Illinois 101, Southern California 65

Andrej Stojakovic returned from a two-game injury absence to put up 22 points, leading seven double-figure scorers for the Fighting Illini in a pounding of the Trojans at Los Angeles.

David Mirkovic logged 14 points and Jake Davis went 4-for-4 from 3-point range while scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds for Illinois (22-5, 13-3 Big Ten).

USC (18-8, 7-8) was without season-long leading scorer Chad Baker-Mazara, who was a late scratch. Ezra Ausar recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jacob Cofie added 14 points.

No. 11 Gonzaga 80, San Francisco 59

Graham Ike scored 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting to help the Bulldogs roll to a victory over the host Dons in West Coast Conference play.

Mario Saint-Supery had 14 points and six assists and Emmanuel Innocenti registered 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals as the Bulldogs (26-2, 14-1 WCC) defeated the Dons for the 35th consecutive time. Jalen Warley added 11 points for Gonzaga in a contest played at the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors. Ike has scored 20 or more points in each of his past eight games.

Tyrone Riley IV scored 16 points and Mookie Cook added 12 for San Francisco (15-14, 7-9). Legend Smiley had 10 for the Dons, who have lost six of their past eight games.

No. 14 Virginia 94, Georgia Tech 68

Thijs De Ridder scored 22 points in 22 minutes, helping the Cavaliers pummel the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta.

Malik Thomas added 17 points and Dallin Hall had 12 points and 10 assists for Virginia (23-3, 11-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which extended its winning streak to seven games. Johann Grunloh finished with 11 points.

Jaeden Mustaf paced Georgia Tech (11-16, 2-12) with 18 points, while Baye Ndongo followed with 13 and Kowacie Reeves Jr. had 12. The Yellow Jackets trailed by as many as 38 points in their eighth straight loss.

No. 17 St. John's 76, Marquette 70

Bryce Hopkins had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Oziyah Sellers added 12 points as the Red Storm held off the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee, extending their winning streak to 12 games.

St. John's (21-5, 14-1 Big East) moved atop the conference, a half-game in front of No. 5 UConn. Zuby Ejiofor chipped in 10 points for the Red Storm.

Nigel James Jr. scored 25 points and Royce Parham put up 13 for Marquette (9-18, 4-12 Big East), which has lost four of its past five games.

Missouri 81, No. 19 Vanderbilt 80

Jayden Stone scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Tigers held off the Commodores in Columbia, Mo.

The Tigers (18-8, 8-5 SEC) led 65-44 with 8:41 left to play before the Commodores (21-5, 8-5) staged a furious rally that fell just short. T.O. Barrett and Trent Pierce scored 16 points each for Missouri, which won for the fifth time in seven games.

Tyler Tanner led Vanderbilt with 27 points, five assists and three steals. Devin McGlockton scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds. In the final second, Tanner intercepted an inbound pass and had his halfcourt heave roll around the rim and out at the buzzer.
