I’ve Had a Lovesac for Over a Year & It’s the Best Couch I’ve Ever Sat On — Plus, Its a Rare 40% Off This Week Only

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, SheKnows may receive an affiliate commission.

When I moved into my first apartment, I cheaped out on many first things, like cutlerykitchen table, and even my bed frame (it still squeaks just by sitting on it). But the two things I wanted to avoid penny-pinching on were a vacuum (if you know, you know) and a couch. Now, I know what you’re thinking — your very first sofa is usually cheap. And while that may be true for most, I knew I wanted something worth the money and didn’t dread sitting on every day.

With that said, it took me a couple of months to find a couch I was somewhat satisfied with. But having a partner who loves sitting in front of the TV and playing video games all weekend, I was forced to find something fast. Eventually, we settled (more like forced, for me) on the IKEA Söderhamn sofa. Let me just say I adore IKEA — I really do. I have been going there since I was a kid, and almost all of my bedroom furniture is from the Swedish brand. However, the Söderhamn sofa was undoubtedly my worst and most uncomfortable purchase ever. I don’t know what sort of plush filling was used in the showroom, but whatever I took home was not the same. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it (thank gosh, IKEA’s return policy is phenomenal)!

While the IKEA sofa was affordable, I don’t believe it was worth the money and the hassle. I had to load it into my car, carry it up three flights of stairs into my apartment, and put it together, only to eventually take it apart and reverse the whole operation because I knew we wouldn’t keep it. Now, there are two reasons why I’m telling you all of this: 1. This is why you shouldn’t cheap out on your first couch (or any couch for that matter if you can help it), and 2. You can just imagine how delighted I was when Lovesac offered me the chance to try out one of its Sactionals — which are still 40% off in honor of Presidents’ Day weekend that just passed. Lovesac decided to extend the massive sale into this week to give shoppers one last chance to score the couch of their dreams.

LOVESAC EXTENDED PRESIDENTS' DAY SALE 2026

Sectional With 4 Standard Seats & 5 Standard Sides

At the time, I had seen the brand’s viral bean bags which are absolutely massive, but had no idea they made sectionals that are actually customizable. I live in a small, quaint attic-style apartment outside of New York City, so my living room is relatively tiny. The longest wall is about 80 inches max, and I was sure there was no way I could fit a huge sectional here — but the Lovesac team assured me it was possible. With them, practically anything is possible, all thanks to the brand’s unique setups and designs.

Building the perfect Sactional is actually super simple. Lovesac uses “seats” and “sides” that you can configure in various ways and cover in countless fabrics to create the sofa that works for you and your family. I love this concept for a multitude of reasons. First, since you have to combine all the pieces to create your perfect sofa, they ship separately, so you don’t have to worry about fitting a whole couch through your front door (this is a constant issue for those living in metropolitan areas). Second, my style is constantly changing. With over 200 covers to choose from, I don’t feel like I’m stuck with the same couch forever. More importantly, the Sactional grows with me.

My Lovesac in the Taupe Jute Brushed Weave cover

It’s clear I didn’t like the IKEA couch, but I also didn’t like the idea of buying a piece of furniture I knew one day wouldn’t work for me anymore. People move, and families grow all the time, essentially causing furniture to go to waste. With a Sactional, I don’t have that problem. When I finally move into a bigger space, I can buy more pieces and covers to suit a larger family and still use the original ones I started with.

I have three seats, four sides, and a deep side covered in Taupe Jute Brushed Weave and White Cloud Blouclé for a cozy sofa that comfortably fits three people. I also have Lovesac’s StealthTech, that’s basically the brand’s version of surround sound but in the couch. It features immersive sound through speakers in the sides and a seat. It even lets you charge your device wirelessly; it’s a cool feature for when friends come over, or you’re having a family movie night. Right now, you can even get a StealthTech Sactional for 40% off, too — which is an excellent deal because StealthTech rarely goes on sale.

I know I’ve told you a lot about how great Lovesac is because, well … it is — but there are a few not-so-great things to keep in mind if you’re considering investing in one. First, it’s expensive. To get the same Sactional I have with the StealthTech costs over $8,000 without a discount. I won’t lie, that’s steep. So, it’s definitely an investment, but I believe it will pay off over time. Second, it’s not the easiest thing to put together or cover. Like most furniture, putting together a Lovesac Sactional is not a one-person job. It’s a task for two people (if you can get a third, even better). And lastly, it does take some time to break in. I felt like it took about two to three months for it to really become comfortable. Which, for the price, some people might not like.

However, I still think it’s worth it because it’s the most comfortable place to sit in my apartment — I’m sitting on it now as I write this. And yes I do have a desk but I’d just much rather work from my Sactional. I’ve even had guests choose to sleep on the couch rather than my bed or an air mattress because it’s that comfy.

If you’ve been considering getting a Lovesac Sactional, I highly recommend it. All in all, I rate it a nine out of 10, and that’s just because of how expensive it is, so it might not be in everyone’s budget. Other than that, everything else is so worth it to me. And right now is the best time to get one! Lovesac extended their Presidents’ Day Sale into this weekend and the absolute last day to save 40% off everything sitewide is Saturday, February 21. The sale includes entire Sactionals, seats, sides, StealthTech, covers, Sacs, and much more.
