Afghan Journalists in Pakistan, Iran Face Crisis, Says AMSO
The Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) says Afghan journalists stranded abroad face worsening conditions while awaiting Brazilian humanitarian visas.
According to the group, many media workers fled Afghanistan due to security threats and now risk deportation from host countries while relocation remains delayed.
AMSO said prolonged administrative delays and the absence of a clear visa timeline are worsening journalists’ psychological and physical conditions.
The organization urged Brazilian authorities and diplomatic missions to urgently process humanitarian visas and provide clear updates on relocation procedures.
Many displaced Afghan journalists currently remain in neighboring countries, including Pakistan and Iran, where legal status and livelihood opportunities remain uncertain.
Media advocacy groups say threats against Afghan journalists have increased since political changes in Afghanistan, forcing many media workers into exile for safety.
AMSO and international rights groups stress that faster relocation efforts are essential to protect journalists facing ongoing uncertainty and security risks abroad.
