Why We Love This Deal
Fleece jackets are very popular for shoulder season, providing enough warmth for chilly mornings while still being breathable enough for milder afternoons. The best fleece jackets are also tough enough to withstand daily dings and snags, and one of our favorites right now comes from Fjallraven. The brand isn't exactly known for its affordability, but during its huge winter sale, one of its bestselling fleece jackets is nearly $50 off.
The Fjallraven Vardag Pile Fleece Jacket is on sale for $116, a rare 30% discount off its full price of $165. This smart fleece is a jacket you’ll find yourself starting to reach for more and more, as spring draws close. While it comes in six colors, only the brown and black/gray options are at this sale price. The good news is that sizes S to 2XL are still in stock, but the sale wraps on Feb. 23, at which point prices will go back up.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Design: Pile teddy fleece
- Colors: 6 (Only the brown and black/gray on sale)
- Sizes: S to 2XL
- Weight: 730g
- Fit: Regular
- Best For: Transitional weather, layering, spring, casual fits
This pile teddy fleece jacket is made from recycled polyester and features a strong two-layer design that provides excellent structure, while the inside is flat-knit jersey for a more comfortable feel. Even though it weighs only 730 grams, it provides good warmth, has zippered hand pockets, and a reinforced button-flap chest pocket. This mid-layer can still fit under your favorite parka, and works well by itself in mild temps.
I like to compare this jacket to both the Patagonia Synchilla and the Better Sweater fleece jackets. I think the Vardag has a more rugged appeal, blending components of both Patagonia options. The Synchilla is an ideal button-snap pullover, while the Better Sweater lends more office-friendly style with its clean aesthetics. The Vardag has a more heritage-inspired look with its G-1000 reinforcement.

What Wearers Are Saying
Some shoppers were surprised at how warm it was, given its breathable design. “Beautifully made,” called out one reviewer, who added that it is indeed “fully functional.”
“Excellent fleece,” said another, noting that it’s “much more durable” than a puffer jacket, another popular pick for transitional weather.
While we have definitely featured much more affordable fleece jackets lately, Fjallraven’s Vardag pile fleece is still worthy of the investment, given the quality you get. If you want one, don't wait to get it—prices go back up on Feb. 23.
