Double decker bus crashes into front of theatre leaving several people injured
Six people are being treated in hospital after two buses collided and one crashed into a theatre in south London.
A route 34 bus smashed into a route 333 bus that was not in service on Newington Causeway at 8.05am this morning, according to Transport for London (TfL).
One of the buses then collided into the front window of Southwark Playhouse Borough theatre.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and treated a number of people at the scene.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that six people were taken to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police said they have not made any arrests as inquiries continue.
Lorna Murphy, TfL’s director of buses, said: ‘We care deeply about the safety of everyone who uses or works on our transport network and our thoughts are with the people who were injured in a bus collision this morning in Southwark.
‘Safety is our top priority and we are working with the police and the operator, Go Ahead London, to establish what happened.
‘This must have been a distressing incident for everyone involved and we have support available for anyone affected.’
