Jerome Tang’s attorney vows more ’embarrassment’ coming for Kansas State
By JAMES MADDEN
Former Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang hired attorney Tom Mars to assist him with legal proceedings following his firing from the school on Sunday. Mars released a statement to ESPN saying that more embarrassment is coming for Kansas State, Pete Thamel reported.
“If K-State’s President and AD really think the school was embarrassed by recent events, that’s nothing compared to the embarrassment that both of them are about to experience,” Mars said.
Tang was fired on Sunday after four seasons with the program and is owed an $18.67 million buyout. However, the Kansas State athletic department said that Tang was fired “for cause,” which would negate the entire buyout if held up in court. Athletic Director Gene Taylor said the firing was because of Tang’s recent comments about his player following a blowout loss to Cincinnati, in which Tang said the player “do not deserve to wear this uniform.”
With seven games remaining in the regular season, the Wildcats will be led by associate head coach Matt Driscoll for the remainder of the season. Kansas State is 10-15 and 1-11 in Big 12 play, and sit in last place in the conference.
