Monterey County man arrested for killing his wife after reporting emergency
GONZALES – Monterey County Sheriff’s have arrested a Gonzales man for the murder of his wife last Friday, after he called 911 to report a medical emergency, just outside the Gonzales city limits.
Pablo Villasenor, 66, told emergency dispatchers that his wife was bleeding and that he did not know how it happened. Sheriff’s deputies responding to the call found 60 year-old Carmen Vega Tapia with severe lacerations.
Though fire and ambulance personnel attempted life-saving procedures, Vega Tapia succumbed to her injuries on-scene.
Detectives observed that Villasenor was also bleeding and had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After his release from the hospital, Villasenor was detained and transported to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Upon further investigation at the scene of the incident, detectives recovered a firearm and knife, both believed to have been used in the incident.
Villasenor was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail for murder. The incident remains under active investigation. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information related to the incident to contact them.
