Author of Latest Ransom Note Claims He Saw Nancy Guthrie

Another Nancy Guthrie ransom note has been delivered, this one again sent to the media outlet TMZ, which revealed some of the contents of the letter on Monday.

Like other recent messages TMZ has received, this one was sent by someone claiming to have knowledge of who kidnapped the 84-year-old Guthrie. What makes this latest note interesting is the author says he saw Guthrie with the kidnappers recently.

'I know what I saw...'

According to TMZ, the emailed ransom note once again asks for 1 Bitcoin (approximately $66,000) in exchange for information. The author also alludes to having seen Guthrie.

"I know what I saw 5 days ago south of the border and I was told to shut up so I know who he is and that was definitely Nancy with them," the note reads in part.

This is the second time the anonymous writer has suggested more than one person is involved in the disappearance of Guthrie, who was last seen on Jan. 31.

The author also indicated they have a burglary on their record from a decade ago, which might explain some of their hesitation to come forward.

TMZ makes an offer to letter writer

The composer of these ransom notes has been corresponding with TMZ now for more than a week, leading to the organization making an offer to them to come forward.

"If you are for real, send us the information regarding the whereabouts of Nancy and her kidnappers," TMZ proposed. "We will immediately forward the information to the FBI. If it leads to finding Nancy and/or the kidnappers, you then have a public record that you are the one responsible, thus ensuring you will get the reward. The FBI is aware we are making this overture."

Sheriff releases details on suspect's clothing

In a conversation with CBS News Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says that authorities believe the clothing and mask worn by the possible suspect in the surveillance images released by the FBI last week were purchased at Walmart.

Police are still working on the brands of the man's clothing and face mask. Additionally, the masked subject's backpack, a black Ozark Trail Hiker, is also sold exclusively at Walmart.

Savannah Guthrie addresses kidnappers

In a video posted on Instagram Sunday night, Today co-host Savannah Guthrie shared a brief message to the people who took her mother.

“It’s never too late and you’re not lost or alone,” Savannah said. “It is never too late to do the right thing. We are here. We believe, and we believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”
