RGIII Urges Patriots To Pursue Tyreek Hill As Complement To Drake Maye
Robert Griffin III believes the New England Patriots should make a strong push to sign Tyreek Hill this offseason.
The former NFL quarterback and current analyst posted his take on Monday, writing: “The New England Patriots need to sign Tyreek Hill. Drake Maye was the best deep ball thrower in football this year. If Tyreek Hill gets back to 90% of what he was, the Patriots get a massive mismatch chess piece on their board.”
Maye showed elite arm talent throughout his rookie campaign, particularly on vertical throws that stretched defenses. Pairing that ability with a speed threat like Hill could create instant big-play opportunities in the passing game. Hill’s track-record of forcing defensive coordinators to adjust coverage schemes remains a major draw, even as he enters the later stages of his career.
New England’s wide receiver room already features Stefon Diggs, but adding another proven separator would give Maye multiple options to attack downfield. With the Patriots looking to build around their young quarterback, a move for Hill fits the profile of acquiring a player who can elevate the offense without demanding a long-term commitment that ties up future cap space.
Griffin’s suggestion arrives amid ongoing discussions about available veteran talent. Whether the Patriots act on it remains to be seen, but the idea of giving Maye a true home-run threat has clear appeal as the team shapes its 2026 roster.
