Legendary Actor Robert Duvall Has Passed At Age 95
Actor and filmmaker Robert Duvall passed away yesterday at his home in Middleburg, Virginia with his wife of 21 years at his side.
Duvall is widely considered one of the best actors of all time. He was nominated for the “Best Actor” Academy Award three times, for The Great Santini (1981), Tender Mercies (1984), and The Apostle (1998). He was nominated for the “Best Supporting Actor” Academy Award four times, for The Godfather (1973), Apocalypse Now (1980), A Civil Action (1999), and The Judge (2015). He won for Tender Mercies.
Duvall was married four times and never had children, which he joked was due to his own infertility (meaning, he wanted children but was unable to have them).
His family asks that we remember Robert and honor his legacy by “Watching a great film, telling a good story around a table with friends, or taking a drive in the countryside to appreciate the world’s beauty.”
I think I will watch Lonesome Dove to honor his memory tonight. What is your favorite Robert Duvall film?
