'Bodies of children': MAGA hopeful's silence hammered after ghoulish Epstein link revealed
Don Huffines, an overtly pro-Trump millionaire and real-estate mogul running for Texas comptroller, has remained active on social media since being identified as the mystery buyer of Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch but has yet to acknowledge the revelation, prompting critics of all stripes to hound him relentlessly.
First reported on Friday, Huffines was revealed to have purchased Epstein’s Zorro Ranch – a sprawling 7,600 property in central New Mexico – in 2023 using a limited liability company he created just weeks before the purchase.
The property was at the center of a disturbing plan of Epstein’s to “seed the human race with his DNA,” and, according to one email recently published by the Justice Department, may have “two foreign girls” buried on site.
It is unknown why Huffines purchased the property, but his continued promotion of his campaign — coupled with his silence on why he took ownership of Zorro Ranch — appears to have angered a number of Texas conservatives.
“Why did you buy Epstein's ranch?” wrote Christopher David, a purported Texas Republican primary voter and founder of the artificial intelligence company OpenAgents, in a social media post on X. “Will you open it to investigators? You must loudly & clearly answer these questions NOW.”
Another X user, “Angry American,” a self-described “America first” political commentator and “[Vice President JD] Vance for 2028” backer, told their more than 5,500 followers that Huffine’s silence would end up hurting his campaign.
“How can you put Texans first when you won’t even answer our question about Zorro Ranch?” they wrote Monday in a social media post on X. “That only makes [you] seem untrustworthy and unworthy of our vote.”
Others were more blunt with their outrage; ‘The silence is deafening,” wrote one X user; “you are a coward,” wrote another.
Even prominent conservative Trisha Hope – a Republican delegate for President Donald Trump in 2024 and advocate for Jan. 6 rioters – hoped that Huffines would be more "forthcoming" about why he purchased a property owned by an alleged sex trafficker.
"I wish someone there had the courage to ask you about your NM ranch," Hope wrote in a social media post on X. "You need to be forthcoming about why you purchased it, what you plan to do with it and if you will allow it to be properly searched as the Epstein files indicate there are possible bodies of children buried there."
Huffines regularly describes himself as a “MAGA Republican,” and routinely touts his loyalty to President Donald Trump. Huffines’ connection to the Trump administration goes beyond the real-estate mogul’s praise for the president, however, with Huffines’ son, Russell Huffines, getting tapped for a position in the White House last summer, a position he’s paid $83,500 a year for.
