Patriots Should Sign Pro Bowler Reportedly Being Released By Rival
Even though the New England Patriots just went to the Super Bowl, their roster has holes they need to address.
The Patriots had just 35 sacks in the regular season, ranking near the bottom of the league. Their pass rush could use more help, and with K’Lavon Chaisson going into free agency, they could lose a key contributor.
Harold Landry led the team in sacks and looked great when he was playing, but a lingering knee injury raised questions about his durability. He is under contract for next season, but the Patriots could still use some help. The Miami Dolphins are reportedly releasing Bradley Chubb, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, and he could be a great fit in New England.
Chubb is a two-time Pro Bowler and has 48 sacks in 90 regular-season games. He has dealt with injuries. He has had two ACL tears in his career and missed significant time with an ankle injury in 2021, but played in and started all 17 games for the Dolphins last season.
He had 8.5 sacks and looked like the Pro Bowl caliber player he is. He could be a great addition to the Patriots, and a winning culture could get the best out of him again.
Chubb was the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and finished third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year race in his debut season. Even though he is not on the level of elite pass rushers like Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons, he can be a very productive player.
He will draw plenty of interest as a free agent, and the Patriots should be one of the teams looking at him. He had a sack and three quarterback hits in two games against the Patriots last season, and they may like to have him in their colors next season.
