Gavin Newsom claims Trump is resigned to getting 'shellacked' at midterms: 'He knows that'
Gavin Newsom has made a midterm election results prediction — and suggested Donald Trump may feel the same as he does.
The Governor of California, during an appearance at the Munich Security Conference, suggested the midterms will swing heavily in favor of the Democratic Party, and that the president has accepted this privately.
Newsom told CNN, "Trump’s going to get shellacked in the midterms. He knows that. The world is becoming, I think, more and more familiar with that reality."
Further analysis from CNN host Kasle Hunt saw a way through for the Democratic Party at the midterms, with the prospect of retaking the House on the cards for the party.
Hunt wrote, "Back home, of course, Democrats’ prospects have been improving fast. Trump’s approval rating has dropped, and Democrats have an opportunity to win back control of the House in this year’s midterm elections."
Newsom is piling pressure onto the Republican Party, with a recent post to his X account denouncing a statement from GOP rep Randy Fine. The GOP rep wrote, "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one."
The Governor of California quoted hm in a post of his own, replying, "Resign now, you racist slob." At the Munich conference, Newsom also summarized how the rest of the world views the U.S. under the Trump regime.
He said, "They see us as unreliable, and a lot of them think it’s irrevocable. They don’t think we’ll ever come back to our original form." Newsom added that European leaders see the US as "like a wrecking ball" when it comes to international diplomacy.
Newsom has not held back on criticizing the Trump presidency, with the Governor of California taking aim at the president last week. The Governor of California's team took to X and called out Donald Trump and the decision to cancel the EV plan.
A post from the Press Office read, "Once again Trump is treating the White House like one of his bad reality shows. We've seen this clown show before, and we know how it ends — with Trump losing.
