Exes Uma Thurman & Ethan Hawke Reunited on Valentine’s Day for the Sweetest Reason
Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke just reunited in the sweetest way: for their daughter Maya Hawke’s surprise wedding!
In photos obtained by People, we can see that Maya looked as radiant as can be in a ruffled white wedding gown while marrying her longtime partner, Christian Lee Hutson. She was joined by her Stranger Things castmates Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, and Joe Keery; and of course, her legendary parents.
We can see the mother of the bride, Thurman, looked so gorgeous in a draped, baby blue floral gown with matching shoes, and Maya’s father, Ethan, looked quite dapper in an all-black tux. We’re not only obsessed with this surprise wedding, but we’re also obsessed with how the family came together for Maya’s big day!
For those who don’t know, Thurman and Hawke were married from 1998 to 2005 after first meeting on the set of Gattaca. During their marriage, they welcomed a daughter named Maya Ray Thurman Hawke, born in July 1998, and a son named Levón Roan Thurman-Hawke, born in Jan 2002.
“The public eye is like gasoline, but what makes divorce hard is the stuff that makes it hard for everyone—the family elements, how to help the kids through it,” Ethan said to the Los Angeles Times about the split and aftermath. “I’m so envious of people who have amicable splits.”
He then added what it was like raising children under the public eye, saying, “I can’t really talk about this because I vowed to my kids so many times not to talk about the divorce in public. But one thing I will say is if you get the privilege of traveling the world, you realize that everywhere men and women have a tremendous amount of difficulty staying married.”
