‘Rhetoric and power’
The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is stopping at the Milpitas Library on March 28 with its touring production of “Julius Caesar.” The production is part of Santa Clara County Library District’s Silicon Valley Reads programming.
The Shakespeare on Tour program will bring a its one-hour performance of Shakespeare’s political drama to approximately 100 schools and libraries between February and May, “giving students an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between rhetoric and power,” reads the SF Shakes website.
“This production will explore how the force of fierce devotion to a leader can skew governance, how the dissemination of false narratives through biased reporting can change the course of history and how blind commitment to well-meant ideals can lead to tragic choices.”
The Milpitas performance begins at 2 p.m. The production is professionally directed and suitable for elementary students through adults. For more information, visit https://sfshakes.org/performance/tour.
