Battersea Brands Hatch looking for new home this Valentine’s Day for pair with ‘unlikely bond’
Meet the most unlikely bonded pair of pooches who are looking for love and a new home this Valentine’s Day.
Staff at Battersea in Brands Hatch are searching for the perfect owners for Manny, a four-year-old Pug, and Dolly, a three-year-old Jack Russell Terrier.
Aside from their obvious physical differences, Manny is described as excitable, affectionate, and befriends everyone he meets.
Dolly, on the other hand, is a gentler and more cautious girl who can take a bit longer to warm up to new people.
Battersea have said from the moment the two dogs arrived, their connection was undeniable, and although bonded pairs can take longer to find homes, staff were committed to keeping them together.
However, their journey hasn't been without its challenges.
Manny was soon diagnosed with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a condition common in flat-faced breeds like Pugs that causes severe breathing difficulties.
Fortunately, an expert veterinary team was able to open up his airways with specialist surgery and he was soon reunited with Dolly.
Vicki Milner, interim rehoming and welfare manager at the Brands Hatch branch, said: “Manny and Dolly’s bond is really special to witness.
“When life gets a little too scary for Dolly, she looks to Manny for reassurance, meanwhile, Dolly helps to bring out Manny’s softer side.
“Together, they are a perfect team and have double the love to give. We’re proud to have played a supporting role in their love story.”
Now that Manny is back on his paws, the pair are ready to find their perfect match.
If these two pups have stolen your hearts and you’d like to speak to the rehoming team, please complete an online registration form before emailing bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk.
Their future family will need to be understanding of Manny’s breed-specific requirements, such as gentle exercise and taking extra caution in warmer weather, while also having the patience and love to help bring Dolly out of her shell.
