I talked to 5 interior designers about the best bedding. These are the 12 brands they recommended.

Your bed is where you end each night and start each morning every single day. Since we spend a ton of time in our bedrooms, it's essential that our bedding matches our personal preferences for both comfort and style. I've personally spent hundreds of nights testing the feel, comfort, and value of the best sheets and the best pillows, but I've always wanted to know more about the best design-based bedding.

This curiosity prompted me to interview five interior designers from across the country for their bedding recommendations. I spoke with Lisa Sternfeld, WELL Certified interior designer & founder of WLLW; Matt Donahoe, owner and principal designer at Bureau Interiors; Isabel Ladd, owner of Isabel Ladd Interiors; Colleen Bute Bennett, lead interior designer and founder of CBB Design Firm; and Dina Marciano, founder of Dina Marciano Design. With their responses, I've compiled a list of the best bedding brands according to interior designers, from wallet-friendly mass-market pieces to standout luxury linens.

Affordable bedding recommended by designers

Quince

Quince's luxury-inspired, budget-friendly bedding basics are the favorites of interior designers and home editors alike.

Shop at Quince

From clothes to home products, we've extensively documented Quince and its ability to make less expensive, quality alternatives to popular luxury products. Lisa Sternfeld of WLLW recommends bedding for affordable, chemical-free sheets, blankets, pillows, and comforters.

"Quince offers Oeko-Tex-certified organic cotton sheets and blankets at an accessible price point," Sternfeld said. "Its commitment to using sustainable, natural materials makes it easy to upgrade your bedding without overspending, offering comfort and peace of mind."She recommends Quince's European Linen Sheet Set and Classic Organic Percale Sheet Set for cool, soft bedding.

Like Sternfeld, we've appreciated Quince's value, too. Likewise, the aforementioned linen sheets are the budget pick in our best linen sheets guide, while its bamboo sheets are the best overall in our bamboo sheets guide. We also like the foundational pieces, like down comforters and pillows, to top-of-bed finishing touches like Mongolian cashmere throws or European linen shams.

T.J. Maxx

Deals-savvy shoppers can find quality brands like Coyuchi or Laura Ashley for a fraction of typical retail prices at T.J. Maxx.

Shop at T.J. Maxx

Colleen Bute Bennett of CBB Design Firm likes T.J. Maxx for its variety of budget-friendly, high-quality bedding. "I always shop for bedding on a budget at T.J. Maxx," Bennett said. "I think T.J. Maxx has got the best bedding because they actually go to the high-end brands and they purchase from them. You wouldn't think that they do, but we used to own a company in North Carolina, and the same products that they bought from us are the same that go on the shelf."

Like Bennett said, you can find quality brands at T.J. Maxx, like Cuddledown, which makes some of our favorite deep-pocket sheets, and even organic bedding from Coyuchi, which Marciano recommends as a top bedding brand. The selection is always rotating and varies from store to store and online. We've even been so lucky to find the Purple Harmony Pillow, a beloved cooling pillow, for far less than regular retail.

Target

Target sells an array of fashionable bedding at a budget. Threshold and Casaluna are two of our favorite brands sold at Target.

Shop at Target

For budget bedding options, Dina Marciano of Dina Marciano Design recommends shopping at Target. "When it comes to bedding on a budget, Target's in-house brands like Threshold offer stylish sheets and comforters that are surprisingly durable for the price, making it easy to refresh your bedroom without overspending," Marciano said.

We're a fan of Target Threshold sheets, especially. The Threshold Performance Sheet Set is our budget pick among the best sheet sets and the best patterned sheets.

Mid-range bedding recommended by designers

Boll & Branch

Designers recommend Boll & Branch for eco-friendly, mid-range bedding.

Known for its sustainable materials and ethical manufacturing practices, Boll & Branch is a beloved brand in the bedding space. Matt Donahoe of Bureau Interior Design recommends Boll & Branch for mid-range bedding. "Their textiles are lush and luxurious without sticker shock," Donahoe said.

Brooklinen is one of our favorite bedding brands, and interior designers agree.

Our team loves Brooklinen, which comes in a range of colors, designs, and styles. The interior designers agreed. "Brooklinen offers luxurious and comfortable bedding that is well-known for its quality and softness," Marciano said.

Marciano recommends Coyuchi, an eco-friendly, mid-range bedding brand. "Coyuchi specializes in high-end bedding made from organic and natural fibers, with a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility," Marciano said.

Coyuchi is perhaps most well known for its high-quality linen. The GOTS Certified organic French flax is naturally temperature-regulating, durable, garment-washed for a softer feel, and made with low-impact dyes. Emphasizing sustainability, the flax is grown only every seven years as part of a crop rotation process that preserves the environment and supports local farmers.

Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily's colorful, coastal-inspired designs fit perfectly in Isabel Ladd's bedrooms.

Shop at Serena & Lily

"I always recommend bedding that makes you feel like you are waking up on holiday every morning," said Ladd. For the ultimate vacation-like bedding experience, Ladd recommends Serena & Lily.

"Serena & Lily are always my one-stop shop for a variety of bed linens and duvets. They have a large assortment of linen, scallop sateen, and printed pattern percale to select," Ladd said. "I love to change out my bedding to align with the changing of the seasons, and with each bedding selection, they recommend what fabric works best for each season."

Anthropologie

You can spot Anthropologie bedding on the beds of Isabel Ladd's vibrant rooms.

Shop at Anthropologie

If you want to add a pop of color or whimsy to your bedroom, you can't go wrong with Anthropologie. "I love to add color and pattern to everything, even bedding," Isabel Ladd of Isabel Ladd Interiors said. "Anthropologie offers a variety of bedding options. The quality for the price is unmatched." Ladd frequently incorporates Anthro's quilts into her vibrant designs.

We love Anthropologie's attention to detail in their bedding. It features vintage patterns, scalloped edges, and beautiful quilted detail, elevating a bedroom's look. Its Cotton Voile Quilt took the best printed spot in our best quilts guide.

Luxury bedding recommended by designers

Matouk

Matt Donahoe of Bureau Interior Design in Nashville, Tennesee uses Matouk bedding for custom, high-end rooms.

Shop at Matouk

When working with clients looking for a customized look, Donahoe loves Matouk. "Matouk's percale offerings are a to-go for the crisp, dense yet soft, supple linen option. They also detail their product with such care and customization with contrast or tonal stitching," Donahoe said. "Their 'Dream Modal' blanket is a must-have layer when outfitting a client's bed as it is a year-round piece."

Donahoe also said Matouk provides "unique opportunities to maintain our design dialogue with our clients. Not only is the hand of their materials inviting, but they also provide as much customization as desired. This provides countless opportunities for us to marry our broader design themes in the context of items used daily." We're also impressed with the brand's collaboration with Schumacher, featuring beautiful and timeless floral motifs.

Sferra

Sferra combines premium materials with intricate designs.

Shop at Sferra

For intricate luxury bedding, both Donahoe and Bennett recommend Sferra. "Sferra nails the subtle details of stitch work and decorative banding," Donahoe said. Created in Italy, the brand is known for its soft cotton and elegant designs.

Donahoe's clients love the premium feel of Sferra bedding. He said that once he incorporates Sferra bedding into their homes, "they are customers for life and frequently boast how attached they have become to the very best feeling when they lie down in bed."

Frette

You'll find Frette bedding adorning beds in hotels across the globe.

Shop at Frette

Frette is a staple for luxury sheets, comforters, and duvets. They make sheets for luxury hotels like the Ritz-Carlton and Kimpton hotels. with a rich history spanning over 150 years of providing luxury linens for hotels to royal families. "Frette employs the best sateens," Donahoe said, so you're sure to wake up feeling like you're staying in a 5-star hotel. Donahoe also recommended Frette's quilts. "Frette's quilts are hands-down my personal favorite," he said.

Among its offerings, Frette offers the H by Frette Classic Sateen Sheet Set, which replicates the luxury hotel experience at a mid-range price point, and is one of our recommendations for hotel-style bedding.

Obasan

Canadian mattress brand Obasan also makes high-quality sheets, pillows, comforters, and throws.

Shop at Obasan

Canadian-based mattress brand Obasan is known for its bedding staples like basic sheets and comforters made with organic materials. "I consistently specify Obasan's bedding essentials for my projects," Lisa Sternfeld of WLLW said. "Their products are beautifully crafted, with exceptional attention to smart details - you can instantly see and feel the difference compared to other options."

Sternfeld recommends Obasan's latex pillows and organic wool comforters. She loves the adjustability of the pillows and the versatility of the comforter. "One of the things I appreciate most is how easily you can add or remove a layer by clipping the comforters together," Sternfeld said. "[It's] a thoughtful design that means one less bulky comforter to store and the perfect level of warmth, year-round."
