Hibs Supporting Football v Homophobia Campaign In February
Hibernian FC will be showing its support for the Football v Homophobia Scotland campaign, which runs throughout the month of February.
The Hibees will support the campaign at our upcoming Men's and Women's First Team matches this month. Supporters will see Football v Homophobia (FvH) Scotland and Hibees Pride branding at Easter Road on Saturday 14 February as the Men’s Team take on St Mirren; kick-off at 3pm.
Ahead of the game, a member of the Hibees Pride supporters’ group will be joining John ‘Yogi’ Hughes on the pre-match show, whilst logos will appear on the Club’s LED Boards and big screens.
The Club is supporting Football v Homophobia to challenge discrimination in football based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
February is FvH Scotland’s Month of Action, and Hibernian are proud to play a part in their efforts and will also be showing support on social media throughout the campaign.
Hibernian Women will also be supporting Football v Homophobia at their next match with Joelle Murray's side taking on Aberdeen on Sunday 22 February; kick-off at 1pm at Balmoral Stadium.
This fixture is also being supported by Hibees Pride – the Club’s LGBTIQ+ supporters’ group. Hibees Pride formed in 2022 and have been an integral part in keeping Easter Road an inclusive place for all fans.
Ahead of this weekend’s FvH fixture, a spokesperson from Hibees Pride commented: "Visibility continues to be a hugely important way of giving LGBTQI+ plus people the message that we are included and welcome in the community of the club, and football more widely. Last year saw a rollback of some LGBTQI+ rights in the UK and beyond, the impact of this is being felt on a daily basis by some supporters of our own club.
"Everyone linked to Hibees Pride is grateful, as always, for the support given to the Football v Homophobia Month of Action by the club's staff, players and supporters.
"Football clubs have the power to bring people together, not only for entertainment, but more importantly, a sense of community and belonging. Football is for everyone."
Kieran Power - Hibernian Supporter Liaison Officer - added: "Football is a place where families come together to support their team and Hibernian Football Club prides itself in being a club for everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, colour, gender, religion, creed or sexual orientation.
"We strongly support the work of Hibees Pride in Football v Homophobia's month of action".
