Seagulls lose at home to high-flying TNS
COLWYN BAY battled hard but couldn’t prevent a 2-0 home defeat to runaway league leaders The New Saints in front of a Friday night crowd of 727 at the Blue Turtle Arena.
Both TNS goals came in the second half from Jordan Williams, including one from the penalty spor, to go 13 points clear at the top of the table.
The Seagulls more than held their own in the first half with Sol Forde heading inches wide, Alex Moore firing a chance over the bar after a good break by Jordan Davies and Nathan Peate headed into the side-netting from a corner, while TNS keeper Jack Edwards saved at his near post from Louis RobleS.
The visitors came out strongly in the second half, however, and after Ryan Bobbel had hit the post, they took the lead on 53 minutes when Jordan Williams scored after good work by Bobbel.
Lewis Sirrell fired inches over the bar for Bay and Jordan Davies had a dangerous cross cleared off the line before The New Saints doubled their lead on 66 minutes when Jordan Williams scored his second with a penalty.
The Bay, who had a penalty shout of their own turned down, kept battling away and Nathan Peate was inches wide with a header, Aaron Williams was just off target with a shot and TNS had to make another goal-line clearance to preserve their lead and secure their 20th win of the campaign.
