Community Beat for 13 February
Greetings spacefiends, today is a special day for two reasons, first, its a Friday, which means its time to lock and load another Community Beat, but also, its the day before Valentines day, so this is you final reminder that if there’s a special person you like to 1v1 with, don’t forget to give them a little extra something. But if you don’t, here’s a little something from me to you to start off this edition of the community beat:
Hostiles are Red Friendlies are Blue It's time to undock and go pew pew pew.
Scope This Out
Let's get into it, starting off with sharing some of the EVE Videos. It boggles the minds of the community team at times to see how long some of the groups have stayed together. During Fanfest 2025, we issued mini-swords to alliances that had reached the 20-year milestone and were in attendance. Whilst not every group likes to draw attention to their age, it’s always nice to share in the celebration of groups when they have big moments celebrating who they are, where they came from, and where they're going.
Legetus Optiox Narbonensi from the corporation Resilience. [EMO.] shared a video celebrating their corps' history and some of their more recent battles:
Congratulations to them for reaching a whopping 15 years and hope to see them go on for many more!
Going from the many to the few; PvP fest is running at the moment! Whilst we have a universe that encourages a lot of PvP, the community team enjoys the skill expression that solo pilot capabilities enable. Understanding your ship's strengths and weaknesses, flight envelope, whats in your immediate surroundings, what’s arriving on d-scan, engagement profile, and your targets' capabilities is something that needs to be calculated on the fly, and it's mindblowing to watch it come together. We see this again in the Alliance Tournament, where individual capabilities of many shine once again, but have the added challenge of a confined arena, ship module restrictions and friendlies you have to look after too. The skill of these pilots in performing these calculations on the fly, whilst also verbalising them, is incredible. Flower Fallen shared a video of their recent Draugur Solo PvP shenaningans, after achieving 30 killmarks in one day -
Next up was the next chapter of a Nomads tale! Originally started in 2022, these long-form videos are very narrative-rich, easily immersing you in the story, and the time flies by. Whilst this latest episode is nearly 3 hours long, it offers a very cool perspective on the same story from 3 different points of view!
We wrap up the video segment today with a video from the corporation Dirt 'n' Glitter, part of the Local Is Primary alliance, covering some of the action on the battlefield sites in the Amarr vs Minmatar warzone alongside some of the fleet comms.
The video is also sponsored by EVE Pandora, which leads us nicely onto the next section:
Exceptionally Sourced Information (ESI)
We’ve given EVE Pandora shoutouts in the past for its continued work and development over the years, and today's community beat is once again one of those times! If you’re familiar with Freelance Jobs/Corp projects, then you’ve already got a good feel for the functionality of EVE Pandora. A lot of EVE Pandora is very comprehensive with its level of detail and depth of lore, including audio clips for its storytelling and campaigning, so if the backstory of EVE Online piques your interest, especially those around the major empire factions, you’ll find this to be the service that immerses you even deeper.
Talking about those invested in the lore and appreciate both the empires and.. some good ink, we had capsuleer GETTRDUNN reach out to share their brand new tattoo!
When we pulled up their portrait, we could totally visualise the character getting the tattoo, probably by a guy called Larry, who’d go on to install your cable after.. ANYWAY....
#Spanner-time
One of the other apps that caught our attention this week was the EVE Wrench app! Have you ever groaned after setting up your overview, window layouts, and keybinds, then moved to an alt, Thunderdome, or Singularity and wished you could transfer those same settings? Well, it's now possible! Giving you the ability to move it across multiple characters, create, manage and restore backups of the overview, meaning even if you have to reinstall your OS at a later date, you don’t have to re-set it up again. It saves a lot of time and effort for the future!
Avatar: The Last Road Bender
When we saw this next work of art, it reminded us of a quote:
Behind the spire of Jita 4-4 you’ll find a replica of the worlds-within-worlds monument, with a quote from the Dom’Ruystni Cycle that reads:
A City of Wood is built in the Forest. A City of Stone is build in the Mountains. A City made of Dreams is built in Heaven.
Is the city being built extending out from the skeleton of the Avatar, or is the Avatar being built on the surface of the city? Who knows, but in the mind of the eternal dreamer, it certainly makes you think!
My EVE Academia
Given the years EVE Online has been running, it's not uncommon to see requests for materials for academic purposes, as EVE Online is known for its community curiosity. On Reddit, we sometimes see brief survey requests or searches for subject matter experts, but it's rare that we’re given the final thesis or the presentation of those results. Last week, though, we were gifted a response to a request 2 years ago about the Molea Cemetery and the topic of “Online mourning in gaming”.
Like a forgotten cross in a rural cemetery, or a story told only once by the stove, this gesture carries a quiet and deeply personal value. It is my way of saying that she existed. That she worked, that she loved, that she lost, and that she left traces—not in data, not in the cloud, but in the bread made from the wheat gathered by her own hands, and in the life passed on to me.
Digital memorials are not cold or impersonal. They do not replace mourning, but translate it into a contemporary language. EVE Online, with all its simulative complexity, offers a space where memory can take root, even among asteroids and cynosural fields. There, amid thousands of unseen containers, fragments of humanity drift. And in one of them, someone placed a little wheat, soil, and food.
