Lazio goalkeeper Provedel hails Sarri’s ‘desire’ and backs Motta to ‘have a great career’
Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has praised Maurizio Sarri’s renewed determination and expressed confidence in young keeper Motta’s future, as the Biancocelesti prepare for a crucial run of fixtures.
Speaking in Lazio’s official match programme ahead of the clash with Atalanta, via TuttoMercatoWeb, Provedel said the recent penalty shoot-out victory over Bologna provided a vital boost.
“It gave us a lot,” he explained. “It helped us overcome the fatigue from a busy schedule and restored enthusiasm after a period in which we struggled to get positive results.”
Lazio goalkeeper Provedel looks ahead to Atalanta challenge
Looking ahead, he warned of the challenge posed by Atalanta – who the Biancocelesti welcome to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening.
“They are a very strong team in great form. It will be a difficult match, and it will be different from the Coppa Italia tie because there is still time before the semi-final. We will prepare in the best way to try to win.”
Provedel also praised his counterpart, Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, calling him “one of the strongest” in the role.
On Sarri, he added: “The coach has always been determined and hungry. Time away may have given him even more desire. He transmits his passion to us.”
He also backed young goalkeeper Edoardo Motta, who arrived in Rome in January, saying: “He is talented, serious and, if he keeps working well, he can have a great career.”
