Indian comedian Rajpal Yadav jailed in Delhi over unpaid film debt, while colleagues mobilize support as court reviews his bail request today.

Rajpal Yadav was transferred to Tihar Jail after failing to repay financial obligations linked to a film investment, triggering prolonged legal proceedings.

The case dates back to a 2010 comedy production financed partly by Yadav, which underperformed commercially, leaving debts unpaid despite several attempts through issued bank cheques.

A Delhi trial court convicted him in 2018, later upheld by the Delhi High Court. Bail granted in 2024 required repayment, which remained unsettled through late 2025.

Several Bollywood actors; including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and Sonu Sood have reportedly offered financial assistance to ease his legal burden.

Yadav is widely known for comic roles in films such as Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Dhol and Ladies Tailor, earning popularity among audiences in India and abroad, including Afghanistan.

Recent media reports note that the actor has been going through a particularly difficult period due to prolonged legal disputes, mounting financial pressures, and repeated court hearings affecting his professional commitments and personal stability.

Born in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav began his film journey with Shool and gradually became one of Indian cinema’s most recognizable comedic character actors.

In recent years, he expanded into digital productions, appearing in projects like Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery and Thai Massage, including releases distributed through Netflix.

The ongoing case highlights how even well-known entertainers face severe financial and legal risks, while industry support now plays a crucial role in shaping Yadav’s prospects for release.
